How this calculator works

What CAGR tells you

CAGR expresses the smooth annual rate that connects the beginning and ending values. It is useful for comparison but hides volatility, drawdowns and cash flows during the period.

When not to use CAGR

For investments with regular deposits or withdrawals, use cash-flow-aware measures instead. SIP projections are better suited to recurring monthly contributions.

What CAGR means

Compound annual growth rate is the constant yearly rate that would connect a beginning value to an ending value. It makes investments with different durations easier to compare, but it smooths the journey and does not show volatility, drawdowns or the timing of returns.

CAGR example

If ₹1,00,000 grows to ₹1,50,000 in three years, CAGR is about 14.47%, not 16.67%. The formula compounds each year’s growth. When there are deposits or withdrawals during the period, use a cash-flow-aware measure instead of CAGR.
