How this calculator works

What a stop price represents

A stop is a planned exit level, not a guaranteed execution price. Fast markets can fill beyond it. Position sizing should use the expected risk while allowing for slippage.

Long and short positions

A long stop is normally below entry; a short stop is normally above entry. Enter 1 for long or -1 for short in the direction field.

Choose a stop method that matches the trade

A percentage stop keeps distance proportional to entry price. A price-based stop uses a technical or structural level. A cash-risk stop works backwards from the maximum loss and quantity. The calculator supports long and short trades and includes estimated charges in the total-risk view.

Stop-loss example

For a long entry at ₹500, a 2% stop is ₹490. With 100 shares, price risk is ₹1,000 before costs. A short trade reverses the direction: a 2% stop would sit above entry at ₹510. Actual fills may be worse during gaps or fast markets.
