How this calculator works

Leverage multiplies exposure

Five-times leverage turns ₹1,00,000 of capital into ₹5,00,000 of market exposure. A 2% market move then represents roughly 10% of capital before costs.

Losses can accelerate

Funding costs, margin rules and liquidation thresholds are product-specific. Confirm them with the broker or exchange before using leverage.

What leverage and margin mean

Leverage controls market exposure with a smaller amount of margin. At 5× leverage, ₹1,00,000 margin represents ₹5,00,000 exposure. A 2% favourable move is approximately a 10% gain on the initial margin before costs; the same adverse move is approximately a 10% loss.

What this margin calculator includes

The result shows exposure, required margin, net P&L and return on margin for a linear price move. It does not calculate a broker’s SPAN margin, maintenance margin, option Greeks, funding cost or liquidation price. Check the applicable exchange and broker margin before placing an order.
